  • Ductwork: Ductwork consists of a network of pipes or channels that direct the airflow from the booth to the exhaust fan. It ensures the efficient removal of contaminants and directs them safely away from the working area.
  • Filters: Filters are used to trap paint particles, overspray, and other contaminants present in the exhaust air. They prevent these substances from entering the fan or being released into the environment. Common filter types include intake filters, ceiling filters, and exhaust filters.
  • Exhaust stack: The exhaust stack is a vertical pipe or duct that carries the purified air from the booth to the outside environment. It is usually equipped with a weather hood to prevent rainwater from entering the system. The stack should be positioned at a safe height and distance from nearby openings to prevent re-entrainment of exhaust air.
  • Air makeup unit (AMU): An air makeup unit is responsible for providing a controlled supply of fresh air into the spray booth to compensate for the air being exhausted. It helps maintain the desired airflow, temperature, and humidity levels within the booth, ensuring a safe and comfortable working environment.

Ductwork is responsible for collecting and channeling the air contaminated with paint overspray, fumes, and other pollutants from the spray booth to the exhaust fan. It helps capture and transport these contaminants away from the work area, preventing their dispersion into the shop and ensuring a cleaner and safer environment.
