Did you know there is a right and a wrong way to shut down your paint pump? Just stopping air to the paint pump causes a hard stroke when it is turned back on, which can prematurely wear the pump’s seals. Follow these tips to ensure your equipments lasts!

Paint pump shut down process 

Step 1: Turn your pump pressure regulator from set production pressure to 0. With a piston pump you should always stop the pump with the piston in the down stroke position. This will prevent any material collected on the piston from drying in the air, hardening and tearing the packings on restart.

Step 2: Shut down main air to your pump.

Step 1: Gradually turn on main air to your pump.
